An Online Newsletter For Family & Friends of Grace & Vincent

Florida Hospital SDA Church, December 17, 2006

If we could sum up 2006 in a phrase, it would say, “Restlessness diminishes for Grace & Vince.” Who would have guessed, but we have really taken to being homebodies. With weekends that are freer these days, we look forward to staying at home. Home improvement and HGTV are more exciting than frequent flying or the Travel Channel. Vince’s most proud home project was installing a ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms. Some of you may laugh at such a simple task, but for us it is a remarkable achievement.

Being at home more often also means being able to host more out-of-town family and friends. Most guests who stay with us either have some business at Florida Hospital or come to visit the Orlando attractions. After almost two years here, we finally took the leap and visited Disney’s Epcot Center for the first time. We never considered ourselves theme-park junkies, but we liked it so much we bought an annual pass.

This year we also played a more active role in the community music activities. Grace continues to sing alto in the Orlando Chorale, and Vince, who hasn’t touched a tuba since college days, joined a church brass group. There are eight guys in the group and he’s had fun playing for church services, weddings, and Christmas parties.

Although we no longer have that itch to get away every weekend, we were fortunate to travel extensively around the country. The travel highlight of this year took us to Asia in November, where Vince represented Florida Hospital as an infection control consultant at several hospitals in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Given that similar opportunities  may repeat itself, Vince wishes he had Grace’s gift for speaking fluent Chinese. He spends much of his free time studying Chinese language textbooks and improving vocabulary. To his credit, Grace says it has improved remarkably.

We wish you a most wonderful holiday season and God’s blessings for 2007!

Love, Grace & Vince
