News Update from Grace & Vince

We feel very fortunate to be able to travel throughout much of the globe, partly to do public health work, and partly to visit friends and relatives. Below are samples of what we've done from December through June.

TIMELINE OF EVENTS: DECEMBER 2002 TO JUNE 2003

Vince visited Vietnam and Bangladesh doing public health projects before joining Grace in Malaysia. Although most time was in Kuala Lumpur, we were able to spend the holidays in Penang.

DECEMBER
2002

April was a busy month with EIS Conference, Mom & Dad's visit to Atlanta and us taking a vacation to Frankfurt & London and visiting Collegedale, TN. APRIL
December 24, Penang, MALAYSIA. Christmas Eve party at Chong and Agnes's home. Also present were Khairil, Eunice, and Jascha, Dato & Datin Tan, Rachel, and Mommy. April 3, Atlanta. December 29, Penang.  In Penang SDA church, at the wedding of Caleb Lim and Jernih. (L to R) Melissa, Jonathan, Sherrise, and Mommy. We remained in Malaysia until close to the end of the month. While in Asia, Vince's great-uncle, Dr. Samuel Phang passed away at the age of 96. After returning back to Atlanta, we flew to Los Angeles to attend the funeral. JANUARY
2003

January 26, Los Angeles, CA. Having a small family get-together. For Valentine's Day, we went to Chicago to visit Vince's relatives, the Kittisopikuls. FEBRUARY While Vince attended a conference in Seattle, we took the opportunity to explore the city and apartment hunt.  MAY 
February 16, Chicago, IL. We spent President's Weekend visiting the Kittisopikuls. The DeWitts also made the trip out from Berrien Springs. (L to R) Mark, Lisa, Andy, Steve, Shawn, Vanee, & Megan. May 6, Seattle, WA. Nice to know we have friends in Seattle already. February 17, Chicago. We had a sumptious lunch with the Kittisopikuls before we left for the airport. (L to R) Kesara, Diana, Milton, and Danai. Kitt2.jpg (46377 bytes) Now that we're leaving, we wanted to explore as much of the Southeast region as possible. Our highlight this month was a weekend excursion to Asheville, NC and driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway. JUNE
February 22, Atlanta. Every now and then, we would visit the Changs. July 28-Aug 1 we'll be in Anniston, AL. Aug 1-9 we'll be on the road to Seattle! WHAT ABOUT PLANS FOR JULY- AUGUST?
For almost the entire month, Vince was in Vietnam and Bangladesh continuing his publich health projects. Grace spent a week in Maryland with Mom & Dad and the DeWitts. March 6, Chandpur Village, Bangladesh
Vince spent much of the month investigating encephalitis outbreaks among rural villagers that affected dozens. The cause is still not known.
