TIMELINE
OF EVENTS: JULY TO DECEMBER 2004
|
We finally
made up our mind to move to Orlando, FL after toiling with different
career options. A stressful month! |
JULY |
Longwood,
FL. This is what
hiking in Florida is like; we are in Wekiva State Park, which
consists of flat brush with scattered trees. Acccompanying Grace are
some church friends, J.T. & Adam Shim. |
|
Seattle,
WA. Vince's brother, Vernon, and his wife, Joan,
stayed with us for a few days before and after their anniversary
cruise to Alaska. |
|
Important
month of the year! Vince starts his new job as an infectious disease
consultant, we close the deal on our first home and we manage a
visit to Texas. |
NOVEMBER |
Our
last month in the Northwest. Sob sob, sad sad. Trying to squeeze in
all our favorite activities and saying goodbyes to friends. We
managed another trip to Vancouver by Amtrak. |
AUGUST |
Orlando,
FL. This is the
front view of our new home. Grace initially thinks she is living in
"The Truman Show". For more details of the house please
|
Kirkland, WA. A "Welcome to America" party hosted by the
Phams to celebrate Grace's obtaining her permanent residency in the
US (after waiting for over 2 1/2 years). Also pictured is Maria,
a church friend who is celebrating her birthday.
|
|
Richardson (Dallas), TX. Ti-Cheng Hsu
(Vince's paternal grandfather) who flew in from Taiwan for John's
wedding celebrates his 85th birthday
with family and friends. |
|
Snow
Lake, WA. Since we love hiking, our friends Bernard Pham,
Wendy & Benjy Sy takes us for a last hike before we leave
Seattle. The view is gorgeous but the company is even better! |
|
Plano, TX. Vince's cousin, John
Choi, a computer engineer, ties the knot with Ada Kung, an
accountant. They met at a Chinese church fellowship. |
|
Finally in
Orlando, FL. The weather isn't that hot and muggy as we were
told (Grace is used to the Malaysian weather) but hey, no one told us there
were hurricanes! |
SEPTEMBER |
Plano,TX.
A very happy occasion with families flying into Texas from Taiwan,
Maryland & Florida. (L to R): Shiulan (our aunt), Jerry &
Sherry Choi (groom's parents), Grandpa, Ada & John, Mom Alice
& Dad Eugene. |
|
Orlando,
FL. Roy Lukman, Aileen Peng, Serena (Gui) & Ed Arbour
welcome us to Florida by taking us out to dim sum. Without this
group of friends we would be pretty lonely. |
|
Juggling
between Vince's new job and settling into our new house. Finally
experiencing the WORK involved with owning a house. The weather has
cooled down to our liking. |
DECEMBER |
Singapore. We make use of our 9 hour layover in Singapore to
visit Vince's relatives. (L to R) Joan Lee (cousin),
Florence Lee (aunt), Roxana Lee (cousin in-law), and
Lester Wong (cousin). |
|
Sanford,
FL. The annual corporate Christmas party for staff and their
family. Jan Tisch, the administrator of Vince's ID group, ensured a smooth transition for us to
Orlando. |
|
Visiting
family & friends in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand with a big
bonus of great food! For more pictures of our visit,
OCTOBER |
Orlando,
FL. Serena Gui & Linda Lukman during a get together. Where else
can you get a free massage after a good meal? |
|
Penang,
Malaysia. We perform as a trio at Simon & Hee Mei Yeoh's
residence. Zilyn (age 4) is definitely a very talented
violinist for her age - musical as well as with great technique. Look
at the way she holds the violin! |
|
The movers
unload our stuff on the 16th. We officially move into our new house
two days before Christmas on the 23rd! |
|
Where are
the photos from Thailand? We dropped our brand new digital camera
and broke it. So, try using your imagination putting our faces in
the beautiful sights of Bangkok. |
? |
Coming in
our next issue. Tips
for visiting us and the sights in Orlando, and a commentary on life
in Florida. Also, how well do you know your babies? |
